Finlock gutter removal in Oswestry and Shropshire

Finlock gutters are the old concrete channels built into the eaves of many 1960s–80s houses around Oswestry, Shrewsbury and the border villages. They crack, hold water against the wall and are awkward to patch. When they fail, the damp often shows inside the rooms below.

We remove the concrete system and fit seamless aluminium guttering formed on site, with new outlets and downpipes. If the fascia behind it has gone, we replace that at the same time so you are not paying twice.

How the job runs

1. 1We survey the eaves, check the wall plate and fascia, and give you a written quote.
2. 2The old concrete gutter is cut out and taken away.
3. 3New fascia, if needed, and made-to-measure aluminium guttering are fitted with the correct fall.
4. 4Downpipes are connected and the site is left tidy.

You get the same continuous aluminium finish we use on ordinary replacements: fewer joints on the main runs, a clean line and a system that will not rust.

Repair or remove?

A local repair can be sensible where the channel is sound and the problem is isolated. Removal is usually the better long-term route when joints repeatedly leak, concrete is cracked or spalling, water is tracking into the wall, or earlier lining repairs have failed. We inspect first and explain which option the condition supports.

• Scaffold or other access requirements
• Condition of the timber and masonry revealed after removal
• Fascia, soffit and wall make-good required
• Number and position of outlets and downpipes
